In Sanatan Dharma, all the festivals have their own special significance and all the festivals are celebrated with great rituals and joy, similarly the festival of Ram Navami is also celebrated with great joy, but in Ayodhya, the festival of Ram Navami is celebrated with full devotion, joy, love, and happiness which lives on the hearts of the whole world and every year we wait for the arrival of this festival.

Importance of Ram Navami in Ayodhya: Ayodhya's most revered Ram Navami is probably a symbol of people's devotion to Lord Rama and a new beginning as well as the arrival of the monarchy. This festival marks the birthday of Lord Rama, who was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the deity of Hindus. This festival is celebrated in Ayodhya at the beginning of Chaitra and during this period of the year, Ayodhya becomes spiritually active.

Ayodhya, considered the birthplace of Lord Ram, is a place of worship for millions of Hindus. On this auspicious day the city is illuminated with lights, flowers and flags are hung all over the city. People from all over the country come to Ayodhya to witness Ram Navami and come with the belief that bathing in the Saryu river washes away their sins. The main event takes place at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple where other rituals and special prayers are performed for Lord Rama.

Special feature of the ceremony: On Ramnavami in Ayodhya, the entire city of Ayodhya is decorated with flowers and lamps and bhajans, kirtans and Ramayana are sung in every area. Ram Leela is organized in which all the characters of Ramayana are depicted through drama and their actions are performed by the people.

One of the most important features of the ceremony is the “parade”. Several wheels carrying the idols of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman are rolled around the city of Ayodhya with followers chanting "Jai Shri Ram".

Rama Navami celebrations end with aarti, or ritual lighting of lamps, and distribution of prasad, or offering of sacred food. For Ayodhya, the festival of Ram Navami is not only a puja but also a spectacular parade of passion in which people come together as devotees of the virtuous God-King Ram.

The people of Ayodhya eagerly wait for the festival of Ram Navami in Ayodhya. This festival of Ram Navami is celebrated for 10 days and people in Ayodhya are engaged in worship, dancing, singing and bhajan kirtan in their homes for 10 days. People keep coming and going in this fair every day and here People are happy to see the grandeur.

After the praan pratishta of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the worship of Ram ji was started with great pomp on the day of Ram Navami in Chaitra, which is as follows -

  • A special instrument focuses the sun's rays to create a tilak on the forehead of Ram Lalla's idol in the Ram Mandir. This ritual is believed to symbolize the victory of good over evil.
  • Rath Yatra of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman processions are organized in all the places of Ayodhya.
  • At some intervals throughout the day, a curtain is drawn to offer food to Lord Rama.
  • After Shayan Aarti, Prasad is given to the devotees near the entrance of the temple.
